Optimum launch ‘Site of the Month’ initiative

Optimum Group has launched an internal company initiative to promote best practice and site safety. The monthly scheme works across both Drywall and Combined Services Companies.

The scheme has strict criteria and is monitored by Group Health and Safety Director Tony Marshfield and Operations Manager Steve Ng.

Tony commented:

“The scheme actively rewards those who support a good health and safety culture on-site”

Steve commented:

“We launched the Site of the Month initiative as an incentive for our teams to focus on the overall implementation of our procedures and to give some direction and structure to their workload. It also creates some healthy competition between the sites.”

Group Managing Director Simon Britton commented:

“The Site of the Month initiative is a further example of our continued commitment to health and safety and best practice across all our sites.”

DIY SOS – The Big Build Bristol

The Big Build Bristol
Optimum Combined Services help transform the lives of the Pollard family in Bristol.

Last nights DIY SOS saw Darren Young and the team from Optimum Group help transform the home of the Pollard family in South Bristol.

After suffering a serious illness, twenty-four-year-old Ryan spent the last five years in hospital, with Ryan’s mum Rachel travelling five hours per day by public transport to visit.

So, the DIY SOS team moved in to help transform their small family home, enabling Ryan to return for the first time in five years. This amazing transformation included a downstairs extension and the bespoke care provision that Ryan needed including a wet room, physio and family space, as well as unrestricted access to the ‘entire’ ground floor.

Darren and his 4-man Optimum team provided dry-lining services, expertise and were on-site for most of the build. With overall local support in the region of 80-100 people, on-site each day, from the trades and unskilled volunteers.

The Optimum team were Dirk and Michael Corston, James Thorne and Ant Gregory.

Apart from the infamous short lead-time, other challenges including working with a camera behind you throughout the build and consuming the generous catering provided by the TV company.

Darren wrote:

“I loved every minute and the lads will tell you the same, its a once in a lifetime experience. We all appreciated being asked to take part and doing our bit, were thankful to Simon (Group Managing Director) for applying to be part of the show.
It was a great chance to be part of changing someone’s life for good and the families as well.
The experience is like no other site I’ve been on, there’s a real sense of unity, team effort and care for the other trades. From loading in together, to clearing the site down at the end.
The purple shirts surprised me, I thought they did their bit for the cameras then sat back, but they were very hands-on, hard-working and on-site from start to finish, a great bunch.”

DIY SOS The Big Build, Bristol

We’re excited to see the team from Optimum Group in
